Psychic Cards

Bell Witch Haunting

The Bell Witch haunting was so notorious, that even to this day people are disturbed by it. In fact, a film is soon to be premiered about the terrible plight of the Bell Family and the infamous haunting that took place in Robertson County, on the Red River, Tennessee.

It all started in 1817, when John William Bell Sr. walking thru the country side surrounding his farm claimed he had come into contact with a horrible creature that had the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit, shortly after, that strange noises manifested in his home.

Due to the fact that the haunting took place in the 1800s, it was obviously impossible for John Bell to contact an online psychic. Grin if you will, but an empath’s pack of initiated psychic cards might have been able to read the situation and suss out how to help this family thru the following horrors.

Albert Virgil Goodpasture

Historian Albert Virgil Goodpasture in his History of Tennessee of the 1800s wrote the following.

A remarkable occurrence which attracted wide-spread interest was connected with the family of John Bell, who settled near what is now Adams Station about 1804. So great was the excitement that people came from hundreds of miles around to witness the manifestations of what was popularly known as the Bell Witch”. This witch was supposed to be some spiritual being having the voice and attributes of a woman. It was invisible to the eye, yet it would hold conversations and even shake hands with certain individuals. The freaks it performed were wonderful and seemingly designed to annoy the family. It would take the sugar from the bowls, spill the milk, take the quilts from the beds, slap and pinch the children and then laugh at the discomfiture of its victims. At first, it was supposed to be a good spirit, but its subsequent acts, together with its horrid curses, proved the contrary”.

Some assert the Bell Witch was the spirit of a Kate Batts, a neighbour of John Bell who hated him because she thought he had cheated her on her house sale. On her death bed she swore to haunt John Bell and all his descendents. But there are various other versions of who actually was haunting the Bell Family. One version was that of researchers, including Ghostly Talk Radio. They believe the hauntings were of an overactive poltergeist and as poltergeists are notorious liars it claimed to be various persons, including Kate Batts!

John Bell had nine children, of which one was Betsy a girl of 12. The disturbances seemed to occur more frequently when she was around. Sounds like rats gnawing under the walls were not worrying initially, as the family lived in a country farm house. But the din of invisible birds flapping on the ceiling and the noise of dogs fighting with each other from inside the house were very disturbing. The family was obviously concerned. The entity began to pull clothes of the beds and made horrible human sounding noises like choking, gulping and gasping. Rocks started being thrown and furniture turned upside down. Betsy was always the main focus of the spirit’s anger and irritation. This is not an unusual phenomenon when it comes to poltergeists for they usually feed off the powerful dislocated energy of pubescent girls between the ages of 11 and 24.

Poltegeist

John Bell was once awakened by someone pulling his hair so hard he screamed in pain and Betsy also screamed from the bedroom above his, terrified because “something” was also pulling her hair out by the roots! They asked for help from a neighbour. After the neighbourly visit the poltergeist persecuted Betsy even more fiercely slapping her cheeks till her face turned red. More neighbours’ were invited in as John Bell was convinced the children were responsible.

Books continued to fly around rooms, chairs crashed into tables and the “Bell Witch” did her very best to upset every one. Whistling sounds changed into horrible poltergeist voices that spoke in bad language. Some voices identified themselves as “Black Dog” and “Jerusalem” talking drunkenly and filling the house with the odour of whiskey.

John Bell was presumably poisoned by the witch a few years later, but again there is some conjecture regarding this fact. In any event, in 1821 the family were sitting down for supper when there was an extremely loud sound like a cannon ball being fired down the chimney. Something exploded into the room in a puff of grey smoke only to announce that it was leaving and that was virtually the last that was heard of the Bell Witch. until a few years later!!

There has been some speculation that perhaps John and Betsy Bell were carrying on an incestuous relationship, but there is no proof. One wonders whether a good psychic could have gone to the Bell residence with her trusty pack of psychic cards, to “see” the truth. Perhaps, if she could have avoided the attacks of the evil Bell Witch, she could have picked up whether this was a real phenomena or just a series of out of control and rather evil childish prank. But to many the fact remains that a horrible poltergeist ruined a family and killed John Bell! Scream!!!!
