CONTACT DEAD

The news headline could have been “Contact Dead”. But the fact is mediums have always claimed that there is an alternative to physical life and that our souls continue beyond our bodies – and indeed do Contact Dead. Recently a three year old child told his mummy and daddy that he went to heaven and saw his granny there and that she had said, “I want you to go back, it is not your time”. This little boy, who had been classified physically deceased for three hours, obviously shocked his parents with his vision of grandma urging him to “go back!” This is certainly a case that would merit a newspaper header such as “Contact Dead”.

Dr. Jeffrey Long

Of course mediums are more than aware that thousands of children have had “contact dead” types of experiences, passing over to the other side and meeting their grannies or deceased relatives. In fact, kids’ innocence gives credence to the truth of the experience; children have no interest in lying, or fantasizing visions of that tunnel with the light at the end of it, or even saying that their physical bodies looked like caterpillars emerging from cocoons and morphing into angelic butterflies. Therefore those who believe in life after death would not be surprised at the book “Evidence of the Afterlife, The Science of Near-Death Experiences”, especially when Dr. Jeffrey Long, the author, reported on some 1,200 near death accounts.

Long notes that, “very small children who have near death experiences almost always recount the same stories as adults, even if the concept of death is not yet fully formed in their minds”.

Research

He said, “My research involved the experiences of young children aged 5 and under and I found the content of their near death experience almost identical to older children and adults. It suggests that whether you know about near death experience or not, or what your cultural upbringing, or your awareness of death is, it does not seem to have an effect on the content of the near death experience itself!”

Long is a Radiation Oncologist and he is convinced his faith in the afterlife makes him a better doctor. “I was profoundly changed as a physician” he said, “I could fight cancer more courageously. May be because I knew death is not the end. It made me more compassionate and more confident.”

Dr Kubler-Ross

Many a mystic would totally understand the experience of Dr Kubler-Ross who worked with terminally children. She wrote a book about their experiences and said that she only started to understand the spontaneous spirituality of children after she worked with dying kids and was moved to tears by their beautiful stories of “the other side!”

Dr Morse

In a documentary about the renowned paediatrician Dr Morse, who has worked with critically ill children, he says, “the kids seem to come away from their experiences with a unique understanding of life and death. They say “Wow I saw a light!” or “Hey Dr Morse, heaven is fun!”

Dr Morse was the first doctor to publish in medical journals the phenomena of near death experiences in children. He believes the children come up with the same kind of insight as adults. In fact, he would say they come up with almost identical ideas as theoretical physicists in their laboratories. In other words, that life is a pattern of universal energy. Whether we want to call this energy pattern God or not is up to the individual.

Over the years, Dr Morse has compiled a huge library of children’s drawings and their stories on the brink of death. They say “I just wanted to get to that light” or “For a week I could see sparkles everywhere!” or “I wasn’t afraid to live again because I knew that one day I would see that light!” Some children were barely able to write, yet their words expressed identical experiences to those of NDE adults.

Dr Morse presents a fascinating case of a child recounting their NDE. A little kid, who survived an accident, saw her dead grandmother sitting by her at her hospital bed side, after going to heaven and returning to life. He says, “One of the most interesting things is the fragmentary nature of her experience and that she does not understand it!”

None of the aforementioned would astound the metaphysical folks. They know that there are other dimensions, they communicate with them almost daily. So perhaps we should believe the little girl who told Dr Morse, “I saw angels and I saw Jesus and he told me that it was not time to die! And I had to go back!”
